FOSTERING

At Alpha Plus we provide a high quality child centered service for children and young people looked after by a local authority and ensure that these children and young people are only placed with carers who can provide a warm, loving and stable family home. All our carers have been recruited, assessed, approved and reviewed in accordance with statutory regulation and National Standards and guidance

 BECOMING AN ALPHA PLUS CARER

When you call we will ask you a few simple questions:

  • Are you over 21
  • Do you have a spare room?
  • Who lives with you?
  • Are you fit and healthy?
  • Have any previous fostering or child care experience?
  • Do you own a car?

From these simple questions we will decide to send you an information pack. This pack will answer many of the questions you have about caring for a child. We will then call you to arrange to meet with your family at a suitable time for you.

We welcome applications from:

  • Individuals and families from all parts of the community.
  • Families within a 20 mile radius of Manchester, car drivers and people able to take large sibling groups.

What if I am already a foster carer?

We do recognize the carer’s right to choose which agency they work for or that they may want to move agencies.  However, we do expect you to let your agency know you are looking. Having discussed the matter fully, and we both agree to go forward, you will first need to resign from your current agency or local authority. If you already have a child placed with you, the Agency’s policy would be not to disrupt that placement. We will therefore only consider proceeding with an assessment if agreement is reached with the placing local authority.
